Mt. Washington New Hampshire January 19-24, 2006
The hiking group that went to
New Hampshire
January 19-24, 2006 consisted of JP Jones, Bruce
Davidson, Ed Martin, Duncan Fairlie, Al Bellinoff, Dave Bowman, Bob Adkisson,
and Mal Higgins. This batch of photos shows the hiking group lounging and
eating in the Cranmore Mountain Lodge, North Conway,
NH, where we spent a night on arrival; getting gear ready at the Pinkham
Notch Visitor's Center for the 2 mile hike up the slopes of Mt. Washington to
the Hermit Lake Shelters area, the Hermit Lake 3 sided shelter with a
sliding door where we stayed and the picnic table outside, and some of us
inside the shelter (January 20-21); we explored Tuckerman Ravine, a gigantic
bowl on the face of Mt. Washington Jan. 21. The photos also show a day
hike in the Crawford Notch area on the Arethusa Falls
trail in a light snowstorm on January 23 on icy trail conditions. The
frozen falls were spectacular with some water still flowing.
