Video and Picture Tips and Rules

Ø Must be club member to use camcorder equipment

Ø Check on equipment before leaving for trip

Ø Take prerequisite camcorder training

Ø Always use a tripod for the camcorder or for digital cameras

Ø Only take videos when adequate lighting is available (unless they are bad weather pictures)

Ø Aim for quality 3-7 second video clips

Ø Use a minimum 3MP digital camera

Ø Turn camcorder off between takes

Ø Always check you battery power and make sure you have enough recording media

Ø Identify location, time, and subjects in video/pictures

Ø Focus, then shoot, then focus again, then shoot again, repeat as necessary

Ø Do several takes for each assigned video topic or photo subject

Ø Obtain waiver and release for videos and pictures from any subjects in shots

Ø Do not place yourself in a dangerous spot to take a picture or video!

Ø Report any problems with the camcorder or malfunctions to the Lead Videographer

Ø Turn in the camcorder equipment on-time

Ø Turn in recording media for camcorder to Editor, include description of shots.

Ø Turn in recording media or transmit photos to Editor, include description of shots.

Ø Use the buddy system when taking shots at remote locations

Ø Keep the camcorder equipment in its protective bags when not in use, provide additional protection from weather if needed

Ø Use the self-timer to get into pictures

Ø Study the camcorder or camera manual and try special effects
