Bequest to the Tidewater Appalachian Trail Club (TATC)
Letter of Intent (Non-Binding)
Online Form
Thank you for considering a gift to the Tidewater Appalachian Trail Club in your estate plans. This form helps our Board of Directors plan for the future of our trails and ensures your wishes are understood. The information you provide here will ensure that our records are accurate and that we use your gift in the way that you intend. We will keep your information confidential.
The TATC Board of Directors will make a good-faith effort to spend your donation on the targeted activity(s) you identified. However, the Board may redirect your donation to the General Fund if it decides it cannot use the money for the purpose you designated.
Please let your Estate Planner or Successor Trustee to know to send your gift to:
Tidewater Appalachian Trail Club, P.O. Box 8246, Norfolk, VA 23503
Or tell them to contact treasurer@tidewateratc.com to arrange for an online transfer.
The Tidewater Appalachian Trail Club (TATC) is a non-profit, tax-exempt public charity as described in section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code and is incorporated in Virginia as a nonstock corporation.
Because your bequest is revocable, you do not receive an income tax charitable deduction when you create it. Instead, your estate could receive a tax deduction for the total value of your bequest in the year you make it. Consult with your estate planner to ensure they will request the tax credit upon making the gift.
Important Note: This Letter of Intent is not a legally binding contract. It is a statement of your current plans and may be updated or rescinded at any time should your circumstances change. TATC maintains a policy of not contesting or engaging in legal challenges regarding estate distributions. Further, TATC understands that the size of your future gift may differ from the amount estimated in the letter of intent.
